Beetroot + Banana Smoothie

You wouldn’t think beets and bananas to be a natural pairing, but this is surprisingly tasty. Beetroot is a great option for any post exercise nourishment as the nitrates in beets are found to boost blood flow and increase the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to muscles during exercise. Bananas contain potassium which is an essential nutrient to help recovery after exercise. The addition of cinnamon helps to regulate blood sugar.

Ingredients

1/2 frozen banana

1 small fresh beetroot, steamed or a vacum packed beetroot (just make sure its not in vinegar!)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1/4 tsp cinnamon or better yet ceylon

Method

Combine everything into a high speed blender, blend until smooth and enjoy.
